Community Guidelines

What we expect from everyone on Bynli

Version v1.0
Effective May 13, 2026
Last updated May 14, 2026

Overview

Bynli is a community platform for teams, chapters, nonprofits, and the people who care about them. These Community Guidelines spell out what we expect from everyone who posts, messages, joins a Space, or otherwise participates on the platform. They apply to native posts, team (Space) posts, Exchange posts, comments, direct messages including anonymous messaging, and profile content.

You agree to follow these Guidelines whenever you use Bynli. They sit alongside our Terms of Service (which cover account responsibilities, ownership, and the license you grant Bynli to display your content) and our Privacy Policy. Violations may result in content removal, restrictions, suspension, or — for serious or repeated violations — permanent account removal. See Moderation for the full process.

1. Be Yourself

  • No impersonation. Don't claim to be someone you're not, run an account that pretends to be another real person, or create a fake organization page to mislead members.
  • No fake verified status. If your account has not been verified by Bynli (KYC or organizational verification), don't claim or imply that it has. Misuse of "verified" badges, names, or visual styling is its own violation.
  • One account per person. Don't create multiple accounts to evade restrictions, inflate engagement, or coordinate inauthentically. Team-owned shared accounts are allowed; please note them in your profile bio.
  • Accurate profile information. Display name, bio, and profile photo should reflect a real person or organization. Mock or parody accounts must be clearly labeled as such.

2. Respect Other Members

  • No harassment or targeted abuse. Don't threaten, intimidate, or repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop. Pile-ons and brigading are not allowed. This applies to anonymous messaging too — pseudonymity doesn't exempt you from these rules, and our staff can act on reports about anonymous messages without revealing the reporter.
  • No hate speech. Content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or veteran status is prohibited.
  • No threats of violence. Direct, indirect, or coded threats of physical harm against individuals or groups are not allowed and will be reported to law enforcement where appropriate.
  • No doxxing or sharing private information. Don't post other people's home address, personal phone number, government-issued ID, financial information, or other private details without their explicit consent.

3. Authentic Content

  • No spam. Don't repeatedly post the same content, use Spaces or DMs to push unrelated commercial offers, or create posts solely to drive traffic to off-platform schemes.
  • No engagement manipulation. Don't buy likes, comments, follows, or shares. Don't coordinate with others to inflate engagement on your own posts.
  • No deceptive media. Don't pass off AI-generated content as a real photo or interview, manipulate media to deceive viewers about what was said or done, or post content you know to be false in a way meant to mislead.
  • Disclose AI-generated content. If a post's photo, video, or audio is substantially AI-generated, label it. Honest, disclosed AI illustrations or AI-summarized notes are fine — undisclosed deepfakes are not.
  • Disclose paid promotion. If you're being paid (in cash, product, or platform credit including Bynli Stars) to post about a product, service, fundraiser, or campaign, say so in the post itself. This applies to ambassadors, sponsored creators, and anyone receiving compensation for content.

4. Safety and Legal

  • No illegal content. Including but not limited to: child sexual abuse material (CSAM), non-consensual intimate imagery, content that promotes violence against specific people, content that violates intellectual property law, content that solicits or facilitates illegal activity.
  • No exploitation of minors. Bynli is not designed for users under 13. If we become aware of an account belonging to a minor we will remove it. Content sexualizing or otherwise endangering minors is prohibited and may be reported to NCMEC.
  • No weapons or controlled-substance sales. Don't use Bynli to broker firearms, controlled substances, or other regulated goods.
  • No fundraising fraud. Don't create fake fundraisers, fictitious relief campaigns, fake events, or misuse dues/billing flows. Bynli moves real money through team dues, ticket sales, donations, and relief campaigns — abusing those rails for personal enrichment is a serious violation that may result in immediate suspension and law-enforcement referral.
  • Regulated advice. Posts that give financial, medical, or legal advice should make clear they're informational and not professional advice. Mutual-aid Spaces, recovery groups, and benefits-navigation Spaces are welcome — just be honest about what you are and aren't qualified to say.
  • Self-harm content. If you or someone you're reading about is in crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (US) or your local emergency service. Bynli may remove content that glorifies or encourages self-harm and provide crisis resources to affected accounts.

5. Intellectual Property

Don't post content you don't own and don't have permission to share. If you believe content on Bynli infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, send a takedown notice to bynli@bynefit.org with:

  • A description of the copyrighted work or right being infringed;
  • A link or post identifier showing the alleged infringement;
  • Your contact information;
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you're authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder.

We'll review takedown notices, remove content that violates IP law, and notify the affected account. Repeated infringers may have their accounts permanently removed. For details on how Bynli displays user content (including the license you grant when you post), see our Terms of Service.

6. Space-Level Rules

Each Space (team) on Bynli is independently administered. Space admins may set additional rules for their own Spaces — for example, a nonprofit chapter may require members to identify themselves by full name, or a civic group may prohibit campaign content for candidates outside their endorsement list. Space-level rules cannot relax these platform Community Guidelines; they can only add to them.

If you're not sure what a Space's rules are, check the Space's profile page or ask an admin.

7. Reporting Violations

Anyone with a Bynli account can report a post, profile, or conversation that they believe violates these Guidelines. To report from iOS:

  • Posts: tap the menu (•••) on the post and select "Report".
  • Profiles: tap the menu on the profile page and select "Report".
  • Conversations: tap the conversation header, then "More Options", then "Report".

From the web, look for the same Report option in each post/profile menu, or email bynli@bynefit.org if you can't find it. Email is also fine for any concern that doesn't fit a single post (account-wide behavior patterns, off-platform threats targeting a Bynli member, etc.).

Reports are reviewed by Bynli staff (separate from Space admins). See Moderation for what happens next.

Updates

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. Material changes will be announced via in-app notice or email. Continued use of Bynli after an update means you accept the revised Guidelines.
